Review Journal and Atomic Testing Museum Tour a SUCCESS!
We met with three of our counterparts at the RJ: Assistant City Editor Mike Brunker, Education Reporter Meghin Delaney and Reporter Madeleine Reese. They gave us great tips and information on how to better manage our newspaper! We also received a great behind the scenes tour of the whole facility from editorial, marketing, printing, publishing, to production.
Did you know...
* each newspaper roll weighs 2,000 pounds?? * each roll's length is 9.2 miles long?? * that the RJ uses 45-80 rolls PER DAY! * that all the paper is RECYCLED! (whew!) *that 950,000 gallons of black ink is used?? *that 750,000 gallons each of cyan, magenta, and yellow ink is used??

At the National Atomic Testing Museum, we learned: *about the nuclear and atomic testing that took place in Nevada's history *about the world events that lead up to the establishment of the Nevada Test Site *about the progression of the Test Site from the above ground tests to underground tests *about the Control Point where the countdown was conducted before each nuclear detonation *about above ground testing and the history of atomic testing in the Ground Zero Theatre
